Student Dress Code
Kings Barber College requires that all students attending class be wearing company branded clothing that identifies them as students of the school. The minimum requirement of this policy is that students wear their branded collar shirt during class.
Alternatively, a jacket or hoodie that is provided by the school may be worn. Hats are permitted to be worn provided they also are branded by the school. Jeans may be worn provided they are free of holes and are in good condition. Shoes must be non-slip and in good condition.
Extra Hours Option
If available, students may have opportunities to gain extra hours toward their practical requirements by staying late or attending open sessions. Students who are interested in pursuing this option may reach out to their instructor and if an open session is applicable may join.
Attendance Policy
The standard for attendance is 100% with a satisfactory attendance of 90% or higher. Students are monitored for attendance the entire duration of the course and rates are published for each student via email on the first of each month. Students will be offered the option to attend alternative classes and Saturday sessions when available to make up for attendance with approval.
- If a student falls below 90% attendance at any point during the course they will be placed on academic probation for a period of no less than 4 weeks and informed of their status.
- If after the 4-week probationary period, the student does not hold a 90% attendance or higher they will be presented a written warning of termination of program.
- After receiving the written warning of termination, the student will be reevaluated after 4 weeks. If the student does not hold a 90% attendance or higher at the final evaluation, they will be administratively removed from the program.
Late Policy
Students who arrive late to class will be documented. A student is considered late if they are not in class ready to learn within 10 minutes of their scheduled session start time. Students marked late must make up their time by attending either a Saturday session or attending an additional class (morning/night) after 3 late arrivals. A full-time student who is late 3 times becomes one absence; this will require the student to attend one full-time additional session while a part-time student will be required to attend one part-time session.
Absence Policy
Students who have missed class are required to complete the hours missed in person and complete any online homework/hour requirements. In person class can be made up on Saturdays sessions or during alternative class sessions if available. Online assignments/hours can be completed per the “standards of progress for online work” policy. It is the student’s responsibility to complete all hours and assignments in a timely manner.
Make up hours/tutoring.
Students that would like or need additional hands-on training, theory, or who would like tutoring are encouraged to ask the instructors. The school will provide dates and assignments to students who are interested in facilitating additional training. Make-up hours/tutoring can be performed if coordinated during the week and on Saturdays.
GPA Standards
Students in all classes are required to hold at least an 80% cumulative GPA in their course. Falling below the 80% GPA threshold will be considered unacceptable and will initiate the following course of action:
- Students will be called into the directors’ office to discuss GPA. Students will be notified that they have no less than 3 weeks to bring the GPA above 80% or they will be put on academic probation. Tutoring, instructor feedback, additional assignments, or practical hours may be given to assist students depending on need.
- Meeting with director, academic probation will be started. Students will be notified that they will be removed from the course if after 3 weeks the GPA is not at 80%. Assistance will again be extended to students. Improvement plan made, discuss any and all methods to assist student in being successful.
- If after 6 weeks from initial director meeting concerning GPA student has still not brought GPA to 80% student will be removed from program.

The transcript will be reviewed by staff and submitted to the regulation board, and a course outline will be developed that fulfills state requirements. Once the remaining course length has been assessed; the tuition, course length, and costs will be calculated and briefed to each student.
Leave of Absence
Students who have extenuating life circumstances occur and that require an extended leave of absence will be considered and managed at the school’s discretion. Leave of absence requests must be submitted using the LOA form and will be reviewed by the owners for approval.
Student Dispute and Grievance Policy
The complaint and grievance policy allows students to communicate their concerns with management in an appropriate and documented manner. There is no adverse action, retaliation, or reprimand of any kind to any student who uses the grievance process.
The steps below are ordered so that issues can be solved as quickly as possible and so the school can deliver a better experience from any input gained.
The process for formal grievance and complaint is shown below.
- Students should attempt to negotiate and resolve any issues that arise at the time of the incident in an unofficial capacity with the party it involves with a manager present. If they do not feel comfortable, feel that additional action is needed, or are unable to resolve the issue would then continue to the next step.
- Grievance form is filled out in its entirety and submitted to the administrative director or the owner within one week of incident. Once the grievance is submitted, the director or owner will respond no later than 72 hours after received. If the issue is not resolved at this point the process continues.
- The student will have 5 days to respond to the director or owners’ response and if unsatisfied, escalate the grievance to the Kings Barber College Resolution Team. The Resolution Team will hold a meeting and formally review the grievance and respond to the student within 5 days of receiving notice.
- If after all other steps are taken and the student is not satisfied, they may file a complaint with the New Mexico Regulation & Licensing Department.

This process requires appearing at the school and providing signatures on the disenrollment form or alternatively by mailing a completed and signed copy of the disenrollment form to the school.

Financing is available to those who do not have the entire amount to cover the cost of the program and is available to all students. If students choose to make payments toward the program, they will be applied to items that are non-refundable initially and then towards tuition.
